Llallagua Distinguishes Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos as “Favorite Son” and Inaugurates a Park in His Honor

Llallagua, Bolivia - August 18, 2026

Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos, president of the Kingdom of Peace and Justice Center, was distinguished as “Favorite Son” of Llallagua by the Autonomous Municipal Government, in recognition of his trajectory and the work carried out in favor of communities and families.

The distinction was granted during a day of special significance for the municipality of northern Potosí, which brought together municipal authorities, national legislators, neighborhood leaders, social delegations, and members of the community.

The tribute also took on a permanent form for the city with the inauguration of a new municipal park that will bear the name of Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos, linking him to a space designated for gathering, recreation, and coexistence among the families of Llallagua.

A tribute to a trajectory dedicated to peace and communities

During the honorary session, the municipal legislature cited the international achievements of the president of the Kingdom of Peace and Justice Center, as well as his work to promote the principles of peace, family unity, and essential human values, as the basis for awarding the distinction.

The authorities also highlighted the bonds of brotherhood and the community support provided in different regions of Bolivia, particularly his relationship with families and communities in mining areas.

The decision to name him “Favorite Son” expresses, in this sense, not only institutional recognition of his career, but also the municipality’s desire to consider Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos a part of Llallagua’s civic history.

This award from the Plurinational State of Bolivia joins other honors previously received by Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos from Latin American organizations and legislative assemblies in recognition of his work and commitment to social welfare.

A park that will permanently bear his name

After the formal ceremonies, the official delegation, along with local residents and legislators from different regions of Bolivia, traveled to the new recreational facilities to participate in the inauguration of Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos Park.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opened the new public space, designed for families and the community to enjoy.

The project includes green areas, playgrounds, and areas designated for family recreation, providing new recreational infrastructure for the city’s residents.

In this way, this institutional recognition also took on a concrete and lasting form: the name of the president of the Kingdom of Peace and Justice Center will be linked to a place intended for children, families, and community life.

“We will be eternally grateful to you”

One of the highlights of the day came during the opening ceremony, when Congresswoman Lissa Claros Lora addressed Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos with some heartfelt words and thanked him for his gesture toward the community.

“Dear Benjamin, I know you’ll be able to see us. This is an area that needs a lot of support, development, and progress. I’m sure this won’t be the first time you’ve done your part, I know there will be more opportunities,” she said.

The legislator also extended special thanks to those who were part of the delegation and made the effort to travel to Llallagua to participate in the meeting:

“I am truly grateful. I want to thank you all for making the effort to be here on Benjamin’s behalf; for getting to know our land of history and tradition, which has given so much to the country and which, unfortunately, has been neglected by its leaders.”

In her remarks, Claros Lora also referred to the challenges facing the region and the work being done to create better conditions for its residents:

“However, from our respective roles, we are working to achieve the development our people need.”

Finally, the representative publicly expressed the community’s gratitude to Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos and to those who participated in the event:

“Dear Benjamin, thank you so much for this gesture you’ve made toward my municipality, my homeland, and my people! We will be eternally grateful to you. To the delegation: thank you so much, on behalf of my town and these people, who thank you from the bottom of their hearts for this wonderful gesture you’ve made toward Zona 14 Calvario!”

In this way, the day brought together two closely related events: the institutional recognition of Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos as “Favorite Son” of Llallagua and the opening of a public space that will permanently bear his name.

For the Kingdom of Peace and Justice Center, both events represent an expression of the bond forged with the communities and the scope of a work that promotes peace, family unity, solidarity, and human values as the foundations for contributing to the people’s well-being.

The new Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos Park will remain in Llallagua as a space for families and future generations; and, at the same time, as a testament to the recognition expressed by the authorities and the community of this historic mining region of Bolivia.
