Indignation and Sorrow: Remains of Shiri Bibas Confirmed; Criticism of Global Response to Crisis

In a recent meeting in Cayey, Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos addressed the outcome of the Bibas family in Israel, following uncertainty, diplomatic pressure, and international outcry.

In his indignation following the forensic confirmation of the remains of Shiri Bibas, Dr. José Benjamín Pérez Matos highlighted the discrepancies in Hamas’s release of the bodies and the lack of an international response, over which he stated:

“See, in recent days, yesterday night (which would have been a different time here), they released the other body: Shiri’s. At first, they said that the body was hers, but the laboratories and forensic analysis revealed that it wasn’t the body of the mother of the two children, it was someone else entirely unrelated to those held hostage.”

His message also referred directly to the role of international pressure, and particularly Israel’s role in resolving, as well as the broader situation of the hostages:

“Then, when Israel applied pressure, well, that made them finally release the body of that mother; and there are still several hostages left. It has already been stated that of that number, many have died; in other words, they would release their bodies. And we are seeing this in the 21st century, and the world stands by as if nothing is happening.”
